Facilities Maintainer/Driver
Hourly Rate: $20.79
Reports to: Library Director
Non-Exempt
General Statement of Duties: Makes library deliveries to community partners and branch locations/book drops. Performs varied and moderately strenuous tasks involved in the maintenance of the Library’s facilities. Operates vehicles for Library use as assigned.
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
● Participates in team meetings as assigned.
● Assists librarians in designing delivery routes.
● Monitors facility and vehicles for safety.
● Cooperates with custodial personnel in making minor repairs to buildings and equipment.
● Constructs and/or puts together furniture, displays and equipment
● Interacts positively with Library customers and staff.
● Works evenings, Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
● Acts as backup to Custodian when assigned.
● Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.
● When necessary, moves and controls heavy equipment: carries and sets up ladders and scaffolding; and works from ladders and scaffolds.
● Assembles and installs furniture and equipment.
● Make deliveries/pickups as assigned to other libraries, offices or vendors.
● Maintains an appropriate business-like appearance in dress and manner at all times.
Qualifications:
● Professional driving or delivery experience is strongly preferred.
● High School diploma or GED.
● Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
● Dependability and reliability.
● Ability to work harmoniously with supervisors, staff and Library customers.
● Ability to communicate in the English language.
● Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to move between libraries and sites as necessary.
● Clean driving record for last five years required with insurability by Library’s insurance carrier.
● Must be able to effectively manage vehicular emergencies and make recommendations for vehicle maintenance and repair.
Physical Requirements:
Performs non-sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 100 pounds frequently to lift, move and carry objects on a frequent basis. The work requires standing, pushing, bending, reaching, twisting and kneeling frequently or constantly move objects. Vocal communication
is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for operation of machines and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surrounding and activities.
