JCP&L Storm Restoration Work Continues
Free Water and Ice Available to JCP&L Customers Without Power

Morristown, N.J. – Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) utility crews, assisted by personnel from other FirstEnergy utilities and contractors, continue working to restore service to about 3,400 customers who remain without power after strong thunderstorms and lightning activity moved through its New Jersey service areas last night.

Approximately 49,000 JCP&L customers were originally affected by the storm. Damage in the hardest hit counties included multiple broken poles and downed spans of wire as a result of falling trees. JCP&L currently anticipates that the majority of the remaining customers without power will be restored by 4 p.m. tomorrow.

The hardest hit counties include:

•? ? ? ? Somerset – 900 customers

Beginning at noon today, JCP&L customers who remain without power can pick up water and ice free of charge at the following locations:

To report an outage, customers should call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877). Customers also should immediately report downed wires to their electric company or local police or fire department. Always assume downed wires are carrying electricity, and keep children and pets away from downed wires.
