From the September 17th to about October 6th, Grade Construction will be performing segmental replacement of the sanitary sewer main in Steinhardt Avenue to remediate sags in the sewer main.

Construction disturbances can temporarily increase water flow changes within the distribution system, which may dislodge naturally occurring mineral deposits (such as iron or manganese) that settle in low‑flow sections of the water main.

These deposits are not harmful, but they can cause temporary discoloration or cloudiness in the water.

The following measures are recommended:

•If discolored water occurs, simply run the cold water for a few minutes until it's clear. This will allow the sediment to work its way through your pipes.

•Avoid using hot water until the cold water is clear, to prevent drawing discolored water into your hot‑water tank.

•Check for discolored water before using the washing machine or dishwasher. Wait until the water runs clear at the tap before doing laundry or running the dishwasher.

•In some cases, slight discoloration might linger for a few hours. This discoloration only affects the appearance of the water and does not affect water quality. No health hazards are associated with discolored water due to this type of activity. If water pressure or water volume seems low after construction has been completed for the day, check your faucet screens for trapped particles.
