Major Coastal Storm to Impact the Region Through Tonight
A strong coastal low is developing off the Mid-Atlantic coast and
will track to southeast of Nantucket Island late tonight.
Unnecessary travel especially in most of New Jersey and eastern
Pennsylvania this afternoon and evening is strongly discouraged!
Hunterdon-Somerset-Middlesex-Western Monmouth-Eastern Monmouth-
Including the cities of Flemington, Somerville, New Brunswick,
Freehold, Sandy Hook, and Trenton
WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EDT
• WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Additional snow accumulations of 12
to 16 inches are expected.
• WHERE...Portions of central, northern and northwest New Jersey.
• WHEN...A band of heavy snow is developing in portions of
northern and central New Jersey at this time. Snow rates of one
to two inches per hour are likely during the afternoon and
evening. Snow will taper off overnight.
• ADDITIONAL DETAILS:Travel will be very difficult to
impossible, including during the evening commute. Be prepared
for significant reductions in visibility at times. In addition,
wind gusts of 25 to 40 mph will create considerable blowing snow
and may contribute to power outages, especially when combined
with the weight of the snow.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: A Winter Storm Warning means severe winter weather
conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you
must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your
