The Old Bridge Animal Shelter is a nonprofit kennel located in the municipal complex. It is operated by two animal control officers under the direction of the Old Bridge Police Department. The shelter is operated as a non-kill kennel rather than as a pound since no adoptable animal is ever put to sleep. The shelter has 18 indoor/outdoor dog runs and nine habitats for our feline population. We participate in the State Animal Control program that allows spay/neutering at participating veterinarians for $20 when state funding is available.
Our functions include adoptions of unwanted animals, providing shelter until their owners can be located and assisting township residents with regards to animal bites and handling of wild animals (squirrels, raccoon's, bats, etc.). We also provide programs on pet care and responsibility to groups and organizations by appointment free of charge.
We graciously accept donations for our animals as follows:
Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance (found at Petco, Pet Valu and online, canned and dry, dog and cat)
dry and canned dog and cat foods
canned cat and kitten food
Dog beds
Cat beds
Blankets
Sheets
Towels
Nyla Bones
Buda Bones
Brillos for scrubbing
Leashes
Chain chokers

Wood burning stove pellets which we use as litter.
